Grow & Glow Adult Day Program

SERVICES

Quality of Life Transition Services, Inc. (QoL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which offers young adult living programs for those who may have challenges. These individuals may live with deficits in  cognitive, mental, and/or social functioning. The participants may have received educational services as students with special needs while in school and have graduated or exceeded the maximum age for attending high school. These consumers must be residents of Halifax, Northampton, Nash, Edgecombe, Martin, and Bertie counties and require assistance in adult and independent living.

 

The organization will serve individuals with special needs while they transition from school to adult life. This industry is a growing industry because more people with disabilities are reaching adult age and without the knowledge and skills that are needed to find employment and live independently.

 

The program curriculum focuses on vocational independence and self-sufficiency.  Consumers work to build daily living skills, communication skills, practical math and functional literacy proficiency, knowledge of personal safety and civic responsibility, and social adeptness. In addition, emphasis is placed on developing hard and soft marketable skills so that these individuals can compete in the real-world employment market. 

 

Academic Skills

Individuals work to improve communication skills, practical math and functional literacy proficiency, knowledge of personal safety and civic responsibility, and social adeptness. Focus areas include:Practical Math, Functional Literacy, and Civic Responsibility 

Vocational Skills

Individuals work to improve their skills for the workplace by developing hard and soft marketable skills so that these individuals can compete in the real-world employment market.

Functional  Living Skills

Caring for yourself in your own living environment is the focus of these training sessions as consumers develop the skills necessary for independent living. Menu planning and cooking with a concentration on health and safety are the focal point.
